Mindset
Leadership today isn’t about ‘climbing a corporate ladder’ and barking-out orders.
My clients lead with power and humility, and clear roadblocks by recognizing opportunities to drive influence. If your leadership goal is inspiring your team through compelling storytelling, we’ll develop that skill. 🚀 Confidence without bravado moves mountains (and earns promotions 📈 )
Don’t get me wrong, I know what it’s like out there and value ambition. But if you’re all-about sharp-elbows and pushing to the top of the org chart (regardless of who you might step-on trying to get there,) I’m not the coach for you.
Together we’ll embrace the fresh new ideas around leadership, practice them, and reach your goals.
And have fun with the process :)
Experience Matters in a Leadership Coach
Working with people can be hard, and I believe the most effective leadership coaches have lots of on-the-job experience leading teams, navigating power-structures, building relationships and advocating for resources.
I’ve worked in tech, and nonprofit and university organizations for 23+ years in roles that include Director, VP and CMO. I was a Director of Career Development for UC Davis, and have led multicultural global teams.
My background in leadership, entrepreneurship, counseling and DEIA is unique. I approach leadership coaching with 🧠 and 💜, and I’m here to help you define your purpose, express it, and reach new heights.
How do I work?
I begin my coaching with leaders - including senior executives, experienced managers and aspiring leaders - by asking questions and listening. I use the same mindset to shape diversity, equity and inclusion strategy for my corporate and nonprofit clients: Ask clarifying questions before offering advice.
We’ll cultivate the leadership best-practices, styles and strategies that align with your values. And yes, I’ll share my leadership wins and missteps - but without big ego. 💥 🧠 💜
I believe in balanced approach because that’s where all of us thrive at work. We might build skills in strategy and vision along with influence and empathy. Or work on systems-thinking alongside active listening to build trusting relationships.
What type of leader are you?
What type of leader do you want to become?
Managing different workstyles, uncovering solutions to human challenges and resolving conflict are three keys to career growth, and they are all about people. How do beloved, respected leaders earn the trust of their people (and reach their performance goals?)
Openness 💥 Curiosity 📈 Practice
Oh, and an easy sense of humor helps too :)
In my leadership development I return to these skills often because they are simple and relatable, regardless of our years of education, family history, lived experiences, or number of years in an industry. I have plenty of podcasts, books, trusted-advisors and webinars in my toolkit, but my clients are busy (just like you) so I keep it simple and watch the momentum build. My clients are happy with our work together, and know they are in control.
Openness is about being ok not having all the answers - and sharing that with others in a way that’s both vulnerable and confident.
Curiosity shines in leaders that find creative paths forward - especially when the team is discouraged
And practice makes it happen. Humans need to practice new ways of relating to others, and to ourselves. To see, hear and feel ourselves doing the thing in a way that is aligned with our core values.

courageous leaders are bold and directive
Courageous leaders make their people high-performers
The management professor Brené Brown is a powerful and empathetic leader. If you’ve listened to her podcast, read her books, or seen her TED talks, you know she’s both bold, and vulnerable. I’d disagree with her on an idea if I felt strongly - and could back-up my position with data - because I trust I would be heard.
Like most high-performing, magnetic, trusted leaders she has high expectations - and rewards courage and being prepared with the skill of psychological safety.
I help C-level executives, board members and first-time managers discover this balance in their style, and take it into every meeting. 👇🏽
